Safety tips for photo sharing

Sharing photos online is so easy that we sometimes forget the dangers of reckless sharing.

These days taking and sharing a photo takes just a few quick taps. Before your post your next photo—at home or on the go—keep safety in mind by asking yourself these questions:
1.     Who can see my photos? Change the default photo privacy settings to control who can see what you post.
2.     Does this photo have personal info? You might not want things like your home address or easily identifiable landmarks (e.g. your house) in your pictures.
3.     Is my geolocation in this photo? Some photos store data that carries map locations. Control who can see those kinds of pictures or disable the embedding in your device altogether so others can’t see your private locations.
4.    Are others playing nice? You can report to the service when people make mean or threatening comments so they can take action.
5.     What are others posting? If you stumble across a photo you know shouldn’t be there, report it! This way services can review it and take it down if needed.
